General Dynamics Defense Systems - Techsite: March 2000 - November 2001
Senior Software Design Engineer - Helped develop a complex DHTML test application for k-12, math, science and literature content. This tool read data which was published dynamically from a database of over 500 tests and tracked and reported students progress and scores by communicating with Java Servlets. Created a DTD and XSLT publishing tool to generate a tutorial which was embedded around the core engine and could conditionally disable and enable any interaction. Designed and developed interactive components in Flash4 for embedding in the DHTML engine. Upon the release of Flash5, led in the effort to convert the DHTML test engine into a Flash only test engine. Trained a group of other developers in the use of Flash5 and led in the development of a number of additional components. The components included a calculator, graphing calculator, line, protractor, ruler, compass, periodic table and writing tools. Helped create a publishing system to validate and transform XML data from the database into data files for dynamic loading into Flash. The publishing system utilized a combination of XSLT, Java Servlets, Javascript and Windows Scripting Host to perform the transformation. Created a tool to manage data transfer between Flash and the Java Servlet. Created an intelligent audio pre-loader and additional animation as needed.
